When it comes to advent calendars, there are so many fun options for kids! As a Disney-loving mom of three, our absolute favorite is the Disney Storybook Collection Advent Calendar. Instead of candy or little toys, this festive advent calendar gives kids 24 Disney books to unwrap and enjoy throughout the Christmas season. 📚🎄

How the Disney Christmas Book Advent Calendar Works
The Disney Storybook Collection Advent Calendar comes in a giant book-shaped box with 24 individually wrapped Disney books tucked inside. Each book is wrapped in festive paper and numbered for the countdown to Christmas.
Each day, the kids get to find the corresponding number, unwrap their mystery book, and discover which Disney story they’ll be reading that day. 📚🎄

In our family, we usually start with number 24 and count our way down to number 1 on Christmas Eve. It makes opening each book feel like a little surprise, and by Christmas Eve, we’ve read our way through all 24 stories.

I love that the books are already wrapped and numbered, so there’s no prep work required. You simply set out the calendar, and you’re ready for your Christmas countdown!
Why We Love This Disney Advent Calendar
There are so many reasons this has become one of our favorite Christmas traditions. For me, I love that it gives us a reason to sit down together and read a fun, Christmas-themed story every day. My kids get so excited to see which book they’ll unwrap, and it has definitely helped make reading feel extra special during the holiday season.

I also love the variety of Disney characters and stories. It’s not just the classic Mickey and Minnie stories. We’ve found books featuring characters from movies like The Aristocats, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan, and so many more. Every day feels a little different, which keeps the kids excited to see what’s next.

The stories are also short and easy to read, which I love as a mom. Each one only takes a few minutes, making it easy to fit into bedtime or another little pocket of time during the day. The books themselves are also perfectly kid-sized, with colorful illustrations and lots of fun pictures that keep little ones engaged.
And perhaps my favorite part is that you’re getting a book instead of another little trinket or piece of candy. There’s no tiny toy to inevitably get lost under the couch, and instead of 24 pieces of candy, you’re building a little collection of Disney books that you can enjoy again and again. 📚🎄

What Age Is the Disney Christmas Book Advent Calendar Best For?
My kids are elementary school age, and I think this is probably the year they’ve been the most excited about our advent calendar. They really understand the countdown now and love getting to unwrap a new mystery book each day.
My son is two, so he doesn’t quite understand the concept of an advent calendar yet, but he still loves sitting with us and looking at the books. The colorful pictures and familiar Disney characters keep him interested, even if he’s not quite ready to follow the countdown.
I’d say this advent calendar is especially fun for kids around 4 and up. At that age, they’re more likely to understand the idea of counting down to Christmas, get excited about opening their numbered book each day, and sit and enjoy a short story together.
Of course, younger kids can absolutely enjoy the books too—especially if you have older siblings who can help make the countdown part of the tradition. 🎄📚
A Mom Tip: Hide the Advent Calendar!
One word of advice from a mom who has learned this the hard way: don’t leave the advent calendar somewhere your kids can get to it unsupervised! 😂
My kids have gotten so excited about the books in years past that they’ve been known to tear open a few of the wrapped books ahead of time. If your kids have absolutely no self-control when it comes to Christmas surprises like mine do, I highly recommend keeping the calendar somewhere they can see it but can’t reach it.
Other Disney Advent Calendars to Consider
One of the things I love about the Disney advent calendars is that there are several different collections to choose from. If your kids have favorite Disney characters or movies, you can find an advent calendar that fits their interests.
We love the Disney Storybook Collection Advent Calendar because it gives us 24 little Disney books to read together, but there are also other Disney-themed advent calendars featuring different characters and collections.

Final Thoughts
I really love this Disney Storybook Advent Calendar because it feels like so much more than a traditional advent calendar filled with little toys or trinkets that can easily get lost. Instead, each day gives you a new story to enjoy together.
The books feature a variety of Disney characters and movies, with each story given a fun Christmas or seasonal twist. The stories are short enough to fit easily into your holiday routine, making it something you can actually look forward to doing with your child each day.
I love the idea of opening one new book each day as you count down to Christmas, building anticipation and excitement along the way. It turns the advent countdown into a little daily tradition of reading together, rather than simply opening another toy.
If you’re looking for a way to make the holiday season feel a little more magical—and create some sweet memories along the way—I think this is such a fun option. A new Disney story, a few minutes together, and one more day closer to Christmas. 🎄📚✨
