How to Get From John Wayne Airport (SNA) to Disneyland With Kids

Family of five at Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure during a Disneyland vacation.

If you’re flying into Southern California for a Disneyland vacation, John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a really convenient option. It’s much closer to Disneyland than LAX, making it a great choice for families who want to spend less time traveling and more time enjoying their vacation.

After years of taking our kids to Disneyland, we’ve found that hiring a private driver is so much easier than renting a car. In this post, I’ll share why we prefer a private car for our Disneyland trips and introduce you to our absolute favorite driver who we’ve hired for our family vacations.

Why Diamond Driver Guy Is Our Go-To for Disneyland Trips

Clean, Comfortable Vehicles With Car Seats Ready to Go

One of the things that immediately stands out to us about Diamond Driver Guy is how clean and well-maintained their vehicles are. When you’re traveling with three kids, having a clean, comfortable car waiting for you after a flight makes such a difference.

They also make traveling with kids incredibly easy because car seats can be arranged ahead of time. When they picked us up, they already had the appropriate car seats installed for all three of our kids.

We didn’t have to haul car seats through the airport, install them ourselves, or worry about whether we had everything we needed for the drive to our hotel.

And just as importantly, we’ve always felt comfortable with the drivers. They’re professional, friendly, and focused on getting your family safely to your destination.

A Complimentary Grocery Store Stop Is Such a Game Changer

Okay, this is one of the things that really sets them apart.

Diamond Driver Guy offers a complimentary grocery store stop during your ride, which is especially helpful when you’re heading straight from the airport to your Disneyland hotel.

On one of our trips, we stopped at Target for about 30 minutes on the way to our hotel. We were able to grab water bottles, snacks, diapers, wipes, and all of those little things you suddenly realize you need when you’re traveling with kids.

Instead of checking into our hotel and then trying to figure out how to get everyone back out to a store, we were able to take care of it on the way.

For a family traveling with kids, that little stop can make the beginning of your Disneyland vacation SO much easier.

Early Flights? They’ve Got You Covered.

One thing I love about using a private car service is that you aren’t limited to a typical shuttle schedule.

Whether your flight gets in early in the morning or late at night, Diamond Driver Guy works around your travel schedule. You arrange your pickup ahead of time, and they’re there when you need them.

And honestly, after traveling with kids, there’s something really nice about knowing that when you walk out of the airport, your ride is already waiting for you.

No rental car counter.
No waiting for a shuttle.
No figuring out where to go.

Just grab your bags, meet your driver, and head to Disneyland. ❤️

Traveling With a Big Family? They Can Handle That, Too.

And if you’re thinking, “Okay, but what if we have a bigger family or a large group?” — they have you covered there, too.

Diamond Driver Guy has grown tremendously since we first started using them, and Adrian has told me that they’ve even accommodated groups of up to 15 people.

So whether you’re traveling with your immediate family or bringing grandparents, cousins, or a whole group of friends along for the Disneyland adventure, you don’t necessarily have to figure out transportation for everyone separately.

How Much Does a Private Car Cost?

If you’ve read any of my travel posts before, you probably know that I am an obsessive researcher. 😂 I compare everything before we book it, and transportation to Disneyland was no exception.

There are plenty of private car services in the Los Angeles and Orange County area, so I spent quite a bit of time comparing our options. What we found was that Diamond Driver Guy’s pricing was very competitive with other private transportation services, especially when we considered the level of service we were getting.

Diamond Driver Guy pricing for private transportation from SNA to Anaheim, showing rates of $125 for 1–4 passengers, $165 for 5–6 passengers, $330 for 7+ passengers with two cars, and $495 for 7+ passengers with three cars.

For us, it wasn’t simply about finding the cheapest ride possible. We wanted a company that was reliable, professional, had clean and safe vehicles, could provide the appropriate car seats for our kids, and would make getting from the airport to our hotel as easy as possible.

Our First Disneyland Transportation Experience Was… Not Great 😂

Before we found Diamond Driver Guy, we tried to find the cheapest possible transportation option to get our family from the airport to Disneyland.

Let’s just say… you get what you pay for. 😂

The car seats provided for our kids were not properly fitted for them and were basically bungee-corded into the vehicle. As a mom, that was NOT something I was comfortable with.

And then, to make the experience even stranger, the driver wanted to take a photo of my payment card.

Needless to say, we didn’t use that service again.

That experience taught us that when it comes to transporting our kids, cheapest isn’t necessarily best.

And that’s ultimately what led us to look for a better option—and eventually find Diamond Driver Guy.

Why We Prefer a Private Car to Renting a Car

For our family, the biggest reason we prefer hiring a private car is that we simply don’t want to deal with having a car once we’re at Disneyland.

We’ve found that staying within walking distance of the parks makes our Disneyland trips so much easier with kids. Once we arrive at our hotel, we can leave the car behind and walk to Disneyland each day.

In fact, choosing a hotel within walking distance is such an important part of how we plan our Disneyland trips that we wrote an entire post about our favorite hotel for doing exactly that: The Best Hotel Within Walking Distance of Disneyland.

No Lugging Car Seats Through the Airport

When you’re traveling with three kids, you already have enough stuff to carry. Adding multiple car seats to the mix is the last thing we want to deal with.

When we hire a private driver, we can arrange the appropriate car seats ahead of time and have them waiting for us when we’re picked up at the airport.

That’s one less thing to haul through the airport, one less thing to install, and one less thing to worry about.

A Rental Car Can Get Expensive

When we actually ran the numbers, renting a car just didn’t make sense for us.

A rental car can cost hundreds of dollars, and then you have to add the other expenses that come with having one:

  • Rental car fees
  • Gas
  • Hotel parking every night
  • Disneyland parking if you drive to the parks

And if you’re staying within walking distance of Disneyland, you’re essentially paying for a car that’s going to sit at your hotel for most of your trip.

We Don’t Want to Deal With Southern California Traffic

And then there’s the driving itself. 😂

Let’s be honest—Southern California traffic can be crazy.

The last thing I want to do after getting off a flight with three kids and a pile of luggage is figure out unfamiliar freeways and navigate busy Southern California traffic.

When we hire a private driver, we don’t have to worry about any of that. We get picked up at the airport, our kids already have their car seats ready, and someone else handles the driving so we can sit back and relax.

Final Thoughts

After using Diamond Driver Guy for our Disneyland trips, we truly think it’s one of the best ways to get from the airport to Disneyland with kids. It’s safe, reliable, comfortable, and incredibly convenient—and the complimentary grocery stop is such a great bonus for families.

For us, the convenience and peace of mind are absolutely worth it. We don’t have to worry about navigating L.A. traffic, hauling car seats through the airport, renting a car, or figuring out where to park once we arrive.

Instead, we can sit back, relax, and start getting excited for our Disneyland vacation the moment we leave the airport.

If you’re traveling to Disneyland with your family and want a comfortable, stress-free way to get from the airport to your hotel, we highly recommend Diamond Driver Guy. It’s become our go-to transportation option, and we’re happy to pay for the convenience it provides.

And honestly, what better way to start a magical Disneyland trip than by letting someone else handle the drive? ✨🏰
