A sit-down meal has become one of our favorite parts of every Disneyland vacation. As much as we love the rides, parades, and nonstop excitement, having a place to sit down, relax, cool off, and enjoy a great meal together helps break up the day and makes the trip feel a little less rushed.
With three kids, we usually plan for at least one sit-down restaurant each day—often dinner, and sometimes lunch too. Over the years, we’ve found a handful of restaurants throughout Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney that we keep coming back to again and again.
Some of these restaurants are worth booking reservations for well in advance, while others are much easier to get into, even on short notice. In this guide, I’m sharing our family’s favorite Disneyland dining spots, what we love about each one, whether or not you’ll need a reservation, and a few tips to help you plan your next Disneyland vacation.
Dining out with kids can feel intimidating, especially on a busy Disneyland vacation, but we’ve found that a little planning goes a long way. If you’re looking for more family dining tips, be sure to check out my post on dining out with children for some of our favorite strategies.

Best Sit-Down Restaurants in Disneyland Park
Blue Bayou Restaurant
If you’re a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, I think Blue Bayou is one of the most unique dining experiences in Disneyland. Located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, this is the restaurant you’ll see off to the right as your boat floats past at the beginning of the ride.

This is easily one of our favorite restaurants in Disneyland, largely because of the atmosphere. The restaurant is designed to feel like a nighttime waterfront in New Orleans, complete with lanterns, water views, and boats drifting by. If you love Pirates of the Caribbean as much as we do, eating here feels like stepping right into the attraction.

We had a wonderful experience during our visit. The service was excellent, we never felt rushed, and the food was delicious. The menu features New Orleans-inspired dishes and feels a bit more upscale than many other dining options in the park. They also had a great wine selection, which made it feel like a special dinner during our trip.
I will mention that this is one of the more difficult reservations to secure at Disneyland. On three different Disneyland vacations, I was only able to get a reservation once. When we finally did get one, I was online right when reservations opened 60 days in advance.
If Blue Bayou is on your must-do list, I recommend booking as soon as reservations become available. If you miss out, don’t give up. People frequently change their plans, so it’s worth checking back for cancellations. Disneyland also occasionally offers a walk-up waitlist, so depending on the season and crowd levels, you may still get lucky.
For us, Blue Bayou was absolutely worth the reservation and is a restaurant I would recommend experiencing at least once, especially if you’re a Pirates of the Caribbean fan.

What we love: Dining inside Pirates of the Caribbean and soaking in the peaceful nighttime atmosphere while watching the boats float by.
Reservation needed? Yes-this one you’ll want to be ready to book it 60 days out and be at your computer the first second they open reservations (6 am Pacific time).
Worth knowing: Request a waterside table if possible for the most immersive Pirates of the Caribbean experience.
Price range: $$$
Best for: Pirates of the Caribbean fans, special occasions, and anyone looking for a uniquely immersive Disneyland dining experience.
Cafe Orleans
Another one of our favorite restaurants in Disneyland Park is Cafe Orleans. Located in New Orleans Square, this restaurant offers a relaxed sit-down dining experience in one of the most charming areas of the park.
During our visit, we chose to sit outside, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We loved being able to people-watch while taking a break from the crowds and enjoying a meal. There is something about sitting in New Orleans Square that just feels quintessentially Disneyland, and Cafe Orleans is a great place to soak in that atmosphere.
Like several of the restaurants in this area, the menu features New Orleans-inspired dishes and flavors. While it feels a little more casual than Blue Bayou, it still offers a great sit-down dining experience when you’re looking for a break during your day at the parks.
If you’re looking for a restaurant with great atmosphere, delicious food, and a slightly more relaxed experience than some of Disneyland’s harder-to-book dining locations, Cafe Orleans is definitely worth considering.

What we love: The charming New Orleans Square atmosphere, relaxing outdoor patio, and famous Monte Cristo sandwich make this one of our favorite Disneyland dining spots. ✨
Reservation needed? Yes, highly recommended especially during the busy season.
Worth knowing: Patio seating offers some of the best people-watching in Disneyland.
Price range: $$$
Best for: A relaxing sit-down meal in the heart of Disneyland. ✨
Plaza Inn Character Breakfast
If you have young kids who love Disney characters, the Plaza Inn Character Breakfast is one of our favorite dining experiences in Disneyland Park.
We booked a late breakfast that was closer to lunchtime, and it ended up working out perfectly. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, which meant the characters had plenty of time to stop by our table and interact with the kids. It felt much more relaxed than I expected, and my kids absolutely loved all the extra attention.

Character dining can be a great way to meet several Disney characters without spending time waiting in individual character lines throughout the park. For our family, it was one of those experiences that felt just as memorable as some of the rides.

What we love:
The character interactions were fantastic, especially during our later breakfast reservation. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and perfect for families with younger children.
Reservation needed?
Yes. I would recommend booking in advance, especially during busy travel seasons.
Worth knowing: Character dining is only offered during breakfast, while lunch and dinner are standard dining experiences.

Families with young children, Disney character fans, first-time Disneyland visitors, special vacation memories
Oga’s Cantina
While Oga’s Cantina isn’t technically a full-service restaurant, it’s still one of our favorite places to stop in Disneyland and is worth mentioning for any Star Wars fan.
Located inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Oga’s Cantina feels like you’ve stepped right into the Star Wars universe. The immersive theming is incredible, and it’s one of those experiences that every Star Wars fan should try at least once.
The menu focuses primarily on themed beverages, including specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a small selection of snacks. The drinks are creative, fun, and unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the park.

What we love:
The atmosphere is incredibly immersive and feels like a real cantina from the Star Wars movies. It’s a fun place to take a break and soak in the details of Galaxy’s Edge.
Reservation needed?
Reservations are highly recommended, although walk-up availability is sometimes offered depending on crowd levels.
Worth knowing:
This isn’t a traditional restaurant, and seating is limited. It can get very loud and crowded, and guests are often standing or sharing space with others. Don’t expect a quiet meal—come for the experience and atmosphere instead. While Oga’s serves alcoholic beverages, children are welcome, and there are several fun non-alcoholic drink options available for younger Star Wars fans.
Price range: $$
Best for:
Star Wars fans, families visiting Galaxy’s Edge, adults looking for themed cocktails, and anyone wanting a unique Disneyland experience.
Our Favorite Restaurants in Disney California Adventure
Lamplight Lounge
Lamplight Lounge is one of our favorite places to eat in Disney California Adventure. Located along Pixar Pier, this restaurant has a fun atmosphere, great food, and some of our favorite drinks in the park.
During our visit, we were able to get a walk-up table for a group of six, which was a pleasant surprise considering how popular this restaurant can be. The cast members were absolutely amazing and went out of their way to accommodate us, even on a busy day. Their hospitality really stood out and made the experience even better.

The menu offers a mix of appetizers, shareable plates, and entrees, making it a great option for families and groups with different tastes. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the relaxed atmosphere made it a great place to take a break during the day.

What we love:
The Pixar-themed atmosphere, great food, excellent drinks, and outstanding cast members. It’s one of those restaurants that feels fun and relaxed while still offering a quality dining experience.

Reservation needed?
Reservations are recommended, especially during busy travel seasons. However, we were able to successfully join the walk-up list and get seated during a November visit.
Worth knowing:
While some Disneyland restaurants can feel like a major splurge, Lamplight Lounge felt more in line with what we’d expect to pay at a typical Disney sit-down restaurant. If you’re unable to secure a reservation, it’s still worth checking for walk-up availability.
Price range: $$
Best for:
Families, Pixar fans, groups, casual lunches or dinners, and anyone looking for a fun atmosphere with great food and drinks.

Wine Country Trattoria
Wine Country Trattoria is one restaurant we make a point to visit every time we’re in Disney California Adventure. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, relax, and enjoy a meal during your park day, this is one of our favorite spots.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the atmosphere is one of the things we love most about it. The outdoor dining area has a great vantage point of the park, making it a fun place to sit, people-watch, and enjoy all the energy of California Adventure while taking a break from the rides.
The menu features Italian-inspired dishes along with a great selection of wine, beer, and specialty beverages. We especially enjoy the wine flights, which make for a fun addition to the meal. The food has always been consistently good, and it’s become one of those restaurants we look forward to visiting every trip.

What we love:
The beautiful atmosphere, outdoor seating, wine flights, and the elevated dining area. It’s a great place to relax and people-watch while still feeling connected to all the excitement happening around the park.
Reservation needed?
Yes, we typically make reservations here and would recommend doing so if possible.
Worth knowing:
While Wine Country Trattoria does sometimes offer walk-up availability, we’ve found that reservations are the safest option. The restaurant is located in a very popular area of California Adventure near Cars Land and on the way to Pixar Pier, so it can get quite busy throughout the day. If you’re unable to secure a reservation, it’s still worth checking for walk-up availability.
Price range: $$$
Best for:
Families, couples, wine lovers, relaxing lunches, and anyone looking for a comfortable place to recharge during a busy day at California Adventure.
Carthay Circle Restaurant
Carthay Circle Restaurant was one of the biggest surprises from our most recent Disneyland vacation. This was our first time dining here, and honestly, I was blown away by the entire experience.
One thing that surprised me most was how unassuming the restaurant looks from the outside. While the building is beautiful, I had no idea just how elegant and upscale the dining experience would be once we stepped inside.

What makes this restaurant even more special is the history behind it. Carthay Circle Restaurant is modeled after the historic Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, where Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. It feels like you’re stepping into a piece of Disney history while enjoying your meal.
The food was outstanding, the wine list was excellent, and the service was exceptional. We chose Carthay Circle for our final night of vacation, and it was the perfect way to end our trip.

What we love:
The elegant atmosphere, incredible food, great wine list, and connection to Disney history.

Downtown Disney
Naples Ristorante e Bar
Naples Ristorante e Bar is one of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Disney and a place we’ve found ourselves returning to on multiple Disneyland trips.
One of the things we love most about Naples is how convenient and flexible it can be. The restaurant has a large outdoor dining area as well as indoor seating, and we’ve often had good luck getting a table as a walk-up guest.

In fact, this has become one of our favorite places to take a break when our kids fall asleep in the stroller. Instead of rushing around the parks, we’ll head over to Naples, order a drink and an appetizer, and enjoy some downtime while the kids nap. Once they wake up, we can order a meal and continue enjoying our evening.
The menu features Italian favorites, pizza, pasta, appetizers, and drinks, making it an easy crowd-pleaser for families with different tastes.

What we love:
The large outdoor patio, relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly menu, and how easy it is to stop in for a meal or snack during a busy Disneyland day.
Reservation needed?
Reservations are available, but we’ve personally had great luck with walk-up seating.
Worth knowing:
This is one of our favorite places for a more relaxed meal outside the parks. We also found the pricing to be more moderate than some of the sit-down restaurants located inside Disneyland and California Adventure.
Price range: $$
Best for:
Families, groups, casual lunches or dinners, stroller naps, and anyone looking for a convenient Downtown Disney dining option.
Jazz Kitchen
Jazz Kitchen is another one of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Disney. If you’re looking for a fun sit-down dining experience with great food and a lively atmosphere, this is a restaurant worth considering.
While we’ve only eaten here during the day, it left a great impression on us. The food was excellent, the restaurant had a fun energy, and it felt like a nice break from the busy pace of a Disneyland vacation.
One thing that makes Jazz Kitchen stand out is its New Orleans-inspired atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of Southern and Cajun-inspired dishes, and the restaurant itself feels unique compared to many of the other dining options around Disneyland Resort.

What we love:
The delicious food, lively atmosphere, and unique New Orleans-inspired dining experience.
Reservation needed?
Reservations are recommended, especially if you’re planning to visit during peak dining hours.
Worth knowing:
We’ve only visited during quieter afternoon hours between meal times, but we’ve heard amazing things about the nighttime atmosphere. So many people have recommended coming here in the evening for the live music, drinks, and overall energy. Going back for dinner is definitely on our list for a future Disneyland trip.
Price Range: $$
Best for:
Families, groups, date nights, New Orleans food lovers, and anyone looking for a fun Downtown Disney dining experience.
Goofy’s Kitchen
Goofy’s Kitchen is probably our favorite character dining experience at Disneyland Resort. If you have kids who love Disney characters, this is one dining experience I would recommend doing at least once.

Located inside the Disneyland Hotel, this buffet-style restaurant offers a huge variety of food options for both kids and adults. We were impressed by the selection, from healthier choices to kid favorites and plenty of desserts.

The highlight, of course, was the character interactions. Our kids absolutely loved meeting the characters, and it ended up being one of the most memorable meals from our trip.

The character interactions, large buffet selection, and fun atmosphere.

Our Disneyland Dining Strategy
One of our biggest tips is to avoid overbooking your day with dining reservations. While we love sit-down restaurants, we also want the flexibility to enjoy rides, use Lightning Lanes, and adjust our plans throughout the day.
Many of the strategies we use at Disneyland are the same tips we use whenever we dine out as a family. If you’re dining with little ones, be sure to check out my Dining Out with Kids: Tips and Tricks post for more family-friendly restaurant advice.
We typically start our mornings with Starbucks and a quick breakfast before heading to rope drop. For lunch, we like to keep things flexible and often try our luck with walk-up dining at restaurants like Naples Ristorante e Bar or Wine Country Trattoria.
Dinner is usually the one meal we plan ahead for. I’ll often book a reservation for around 5:00 p.m., especially if we’re taking a midday hotel break. After dinner, we head back into the parks for rides and nighttime entertainment.
For our family, this approach gives us the best of both worlds: flexibility during the day and one relaxing sit-down meal to look forward to each evening.
Final Thoughts
Whether you’re looking for a memorable character meal, a relaxing lunch break, or a special dinner to end your day, Disneyland Resort offers so many incredible dining experiences. These are the restaurants our family continues to come back to trip after trip, and each one has helped create special memories during our Disneyland vacations.
No matter which restaurant you choose, I highly recommend making time for at least one sit-down meal during your trip. Sometimes slowing down for an hour and enjoying a great meal together ends up being just as memorable as the rides themselves.
Planning a Disneyland Vacation?
If you’re still planning your Disneyland vacation, we typically book our trips through Get Away Today. They often offer discounted Disneyland tickets, hotel packages, and vacation deals, but one of my favorite features is the ability to reserve your trip with a small deposit and make payments over time. For our family, this makes budgeting for a Disneyland vacation feel much more manageable.
