Here are some of our favorite movies we’ve watched and the ones we love coming back to for a cozy family movie night!

Looking for something specific? I’ve broken our favorites down by age and movie-night vibe to make finding your next family movie a little easier! 🍿

Best Family Movies for Little Kids

If you have little ones, these are some of our favorite movies for a family movie night. They’re fun, easy to follow, and entertaining enough that the grown-ups won’t be counting down the minutes until bedtime! πŸ˜‚

  • Toy Story β€” A total classic and one of those movies that somehow works for both kids and parents. It’s funny, sweet, and a great introduction to one of Pixar’s most beloved stories.
  • Finding Nemo β€” Such a fun adventure for little kids, with lots of humor and an adorable father-and-son story at the heart of it.
  • Moana β€” This is such a good family movie-night pick, especially if your kids love music. The songs, adventure, and ocean setting make it one of those movies kids want to watch again and again.
  • Frozen β€” If you have little girls, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve seen this one approximately 8,000 times. πŸ˜‚ It’s a fun, musical Disney favorite with a sweet story about sisters.
  • The Little Mermaid β€” A classic Disney princess movie that brings all the under-the-sea magic, catchy songs, and Ariel’s big adventure to family movie night.
  • Cars β€” A fantastic choice for little kids, especially kids who love cars, racing, and Lightning McQueen. It’s also one of those Pixar movies that parents can actually enjoy watching along with them.
  • Encanto β€” Colorful, funny, full of music, and centered around family. And let’s be honest, the songs alone can keep kids entertained long after the movie is over. πŸ˜‚
  • Tangled β€” One of our favorite Disney movies for a cozy movie night. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider make this one funny, adventurous, and full of great songs. Luca β€” A sweet, easygoing Pixar adventure that’s especially fun for kids who love friendship, summer, and a little bit of magic.
  • Paddington β€” Such a sweet choice when you want something a little different from animated movies. Paddington is funny, charming, and has plenty for parents to enjoy too.
  • Lilo & Stitch β€” A funny and heartwarming Disney favorite with a great family message, plus Stitch is obviously impossible not to love.
  • Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie β€” A colorful, playful adventure that’s perfect for little kids, especially Gabby fans! It’s full of familiar characters, music, imagination, and the kind of silly fun that makes it an easy family movie-night pick.
  • Swapped (Netflix Favorite) β€” This is one of my kids’ current favorites! It’s a fun story about a little squirrel and a majestic bird who suddenly swap bodies and have to experience life from each other’s perspective. My son especially loves the music, and he’s become completely obsessed with it! I also love that underneath all the adventure and humor, the movie has a sweet message about empathy, seeing life from someone else’s perspective, and recognizing that everyone has valueβ€”even when they seem very different from us. It’s a fun movie for kids, but I think there’s a really meaningful message for parents, too.

So many great movie ideas! I love Hook, too, and Emperor’s New Groove is super funny. We do movie nights as well, and we usually choose some kind of treat to bake or buy to make it extra special. πŸ™‚
